The intuitive yes is hard to hear when you first begin to sharpen this skill. It is quiet but steady, and will just keep repeating the yes, hopeful that it will be heard eventually. The much louder “voice” in our heads is our fear or desire.
The Dimming of the Intuitive Mind
Often fear and desire are built upon social constructs or societal norms/ expectations. As we grow up, our intuitive mind is quieted by our rational mind which is more valued by our society. Fear and desire can be what we create when we are living our lives according to a plan society created.
We are attached to outcomes that fulfill a plan or checklist that moves us closer to “fitting in” with our family’s and friend’s expectations for our lives. Our “confusion” about our decisions often stems from wanting to do the “right” thing. Where the right thing is the thing that will move us towards our “acceptable” life.
The Rational Mind
When we begin our lifelong journey of self-discovery and exploration, what we are really doing is learning how to hear our own intuitive mind. We are practicing our listening skills as well as our ability to quiet the rational mind.
The rational mind is very bossy. It is loud. It compares you to others as a way of monitoring progress. This comparison is quite detrimental to your emotional body, who will have a negative reaction to most comparison. Even when that comparison reveals you to be ahead in the societal checklist.
Waking the Intuitive Mind
The process of waking the intuitive mind is deliberate, steady, and focused. Focused on tuning into the self. Checking in with the body and the emotions. Deciphering what is good for you based on how your body feels about it, rather than what the outside world tries to tell you.
Spending time each day in meditation. Daily journaling about how you felt throughout the day and what brought about those feelings. Practicing your communication with Spirit and your higher self, through questions and signs. Over time, these practices will put you in touch with your soul’s blueprint. Bringing you back in-line with your purpose, values, and interests.
Following the Intuitive Yes
There comes a time when you will likely be confused about the messages you are receiving. You may begin to notice things changing or ending all at the same time. It can feel disconcerting and your emotional body and rational mind may try to tell you that something is wrong and you will end up alone.
Fear not, you are moving closer to your blueprint and shedding what isn’t in alignment with you anymore. When you let go of what no longer works for you, you make room for new things to enter your life. Things and people who more aligned with your true interests, values, and purpose.
Trust this process.
