Mindful Struggle

Success is never so interesting as struggle.

Struggle. We have all experienced it.

Some power right through it and move to their achievement without much obvious effort. Others draw out the struggle for years.

We compare our struggle to those around us and wonder why we have it so much harder than other people. Some hold the belief that life owes them their fairytale ending or their goals and dreams simply because they dreamt it up.

No one enjoys struggling. Our achievements when easily acquired lose their meaning quickly. Without darkness, there is no light. And without struggle is the accomplishment as sweet?

And here is the truth, we may even look back on the struggle with more meaning and appreciation than the achievement.

Why? Because it is in struggle where we forge our character. It is in the struggle where we form our most meaningful relationships.

Don’t wish it away. Instead, find a way to be curious about the struggle. Maybe even grateful. Something worth more than gold is being mined.

Even if we don’t get exactly what we are after, we will find something meaningful and magical if we stay curious and open.
