Mindful Monday 10/29/18

“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”  ~  The Talmud

This has been a sad and frightening week. Three high-profile crimes fueled by hate. Whether you watch the news regularly or avoid it like the plague, there is no escaping the residual grief in the collective if you are an empath. When events happen that don’t touch us personally but do pull at the fabric of our shared experience, we can feel strong emotions.

It is natural to feel overwhelmed or overly emotional. The busier we are the less we give ourselves space or permission to express our emotions. And we must expel the build-up of energy in our bodies to stay healthy; physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We can cry, exercise, journal, create art, or talk with a confidant. Acknowledge the building uncertainty of the world and find support if you need it.

We have had quite a few events over the last few months that could trigger a trauma response. If you are struggling, reach out to family, friends or a trusted professional to help you find your center again.
