“Negativity from the ego can’t live in an atmosphere of humor, acceptance, and light.”
~ Dr. Christiane Northrup
I came across the quote above in the book, Making Life Easy: A Simple Guide to a Divinely Inspired Life by Christiane Northrup M.D. during a section on the ego.
Re-read the quote real quick. It is so elegant. And challenging to a strong ego.
Egos are great at being dramatic, “logical”, and dark. Everything is so doom and gloom with ego. So all or nothing.
One of Northrup’s points in the section is to help readers decipher intuitive guidance (communication with your higher self, god, the universe) and ego. She explains that intuitive guidance isn’t dark, heavy, and full of blame, that is ego. It isn’t loud or insistent and it doesn’t make you feel anxious.
Intuitive guidance is NEVER like that. Intuition is quiet, gentle, and calm. Often it dreams up things you would never “think” of on your own. It may make you question how to proceed or even seem irrelevant or disconnected from the issue at hand. That happens and over time after acting on the intuition enough times, you begin to not worry very much about it
If the communication you are receiving is making you feel ashamed, remind yourself that Spirit never talks that way and tease your ego into releasing its grip. “Aren’t you precious? Thank you so much for helping me.”
Then maybe picture a tiny dog having a big dog moment, all fierce and growly. Now pat him on the head, scoop him up and rub his little belly, all of which renders him a puddle full of love.
And just like that fierce little dog, our ego just wants to protect us so it puts on a show. But it can be disarmed with love and humor, kindness and charm.
My ego is really good at making a big scary deal about everything. The result of this is me spending too much time being serious and thinking I have many things to solve. I have been working on this lately.
When I laugh more and seek light to shine on my problems, they seem to solve themselves. Now they aren’t really solving themselves, I am lightening my vibration so I can better connect with my higher self, the source of all wisdom, and then I easily find solutions to my difficulties.
When we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders seek humor, seek light, and raise your vibration. Then you can connect to solutions and not just problems.
