Mindful Monday 1/23/17
“When you’re outmanned and outgunned, you’ve got to appeal to a higher authority.” ~ Peter Calhoun
Communication with the Divine is a lot easier than many people believe. You ask for guidance and then wait, listen, and look for signs of the answer. In my experience as a healer and teacher, as well as a student, most people forget to ask for what they want or need. We think about it and we probably talk about what isn’t working in our lives with friends and family, but we forget to ask the Divine for help. I call this the “bad girlfriend” syndrome. You have either had or been the bad girlfriend at some point in your life. This is the idea that the boyfriend, in this case, the Divine, should know what we want without our having to ask. If they really loved us, they would just know, right? We’ve all done it. But it just doesn’t work that way, we have to ask for what we want. In your relationship with your spouse, as well as your relationship with the Divine, the secret to success is to learn to ask for what you want and need.
Practically speaking mindful communication consists of prayer and meditation. You ask for guidance during prayer and you meditate to receive guidance in the form of images, words, ideas, dreams, song lyrics and/or symbols. Both steps are necessary for developing our relationship with the Divine. And I do hope you will develop a relationship with the Divine. That relationship holds the knowledge of our path, our lessons, and our destiny. All of which was chosen by our Soul before we were born. So when you are feeling confused, frustrated, or stuck, take a moment and ask for guidance and then look for the response, it will come.
