"The path isn't a straight line; it's a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths."
~ Barry H. Gillespie
We all have issues or wounds that we work hard to overcome, either through reflection, meditation, counseling or healing work.
We have diligently dissected the cause and each of the effects. As we gain awareness, we can move forward again free of that particular issue.
Then, without warning, we come face to face with this wound all over again, often years later. Of course, our first reaction might be to feel betrayed by ourselves, “I thought I fixed this! Why is this coming back up again? I feel like I will never be rid of this.”
Healing happens in a spiral when we are ready to heal something at a deeper level than we could access before, the issue will be presented to us again.
Know that if something has gotten our attention, it is because we are ready to heal it on the next level.
We have grown enough to align with a deeper truth about our issue.
So, if you can, the next time that obnoxiously persistent issue pops up again, don’t resist the experience, remind yourself that you are ready to move forward and embrace the opportunity to grow.
