It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves. ~ Carl Jung
One of the harder lessons in the practice of mindfulness is understanding that we can choose our perspective. Our ability to find resilience rests on our ability to change our mind’s about “bad situations.” This doesn’t mean we all turn into Pollyanna and see everything as just fine. Instead, we make the mindful choice to remember that in all lives some darkness must fall for what would joy and happiness mean in their absence. We DECIDE that we are not being punished, we are not a victim of the world. We grieve our losses, we fully experience our lives–the good and the bad–and we choose to believe that with every difficulty we are becoming more prepared for our journey. We become better, stronger, and wiser. We become more able to experience the good times.
